Holy Family Orphanage to be renovated

There are plans to turn the building into an affordable-rent apartment complex called “GrandView Marquette.” The exterior will be restored to what it originally looked like, while the units themselves will be modernized. The chapel on the north side of the property will become a public space for events. The building is structurally sound, but still needs a lot of work.

Night of 5000 Dinners

Elementary students at Superior Central School raised $1,872.67 for Meals on Wheels through their Reindeer Dash Contest. Kindergarten through fifth grade students had five minutes each morning from December 7th and 11th to go to other classrooms for a penny war. Pennies in each jar counted for one point while silver and green subtracted from the pennies.

Mrs. Tyner’s fifth grade students were the winning class by raising $37.46. As the winners, they got to enjoy cookies, hot cocoa, and games with seniors in Chatham. Here at Community Action, we appreciate young members of our community serving others and helping those in need!!!
